Jobs:
1999 Nov - Present:
Working in the Voice over IP group. Job involves writing C/assembly language programs to implement speech codecs(ITU as well as wireless codecs) for TI DSP chips, profiling the code, doing optimizations, etc etc. The codecs are being integrated into the VoIP Gateway software of Telogy Networks Inc, a TI company.
PROJECTS
GSM Full Rate Codec (for TI)
The aim of this project was to make a multichannel, ECO-compliant GSM Full Rate codec. ECO stands for Embedded Communication Object and is an API defined by Telogy Networks Inc(a TI company). A C-wrapper was also implemented which encapsulates the assembly code, making it easy for the application designer. The project was implemented on TI's TMS 320C54x DSP. The program was capable of calling any number of instances of the coder or decoder simultaneously (subject to the availability of MIPS of the processor). TI's Integrated Development Environment, Code Composer Studio was extensively used for testing, profiling etc. This codec is being integrated into Telogy's Golden Gateway software which is used in VoIP gateways.
G.728 Codec Productization (for TI)
This project was done to make available G.728 codec to the users of the TI's Digital Starter Kit(DSK). A downloadable copy of the codec in library form as well as a demo version will be made available in the TI website, with a GUI front end so that users can do a real time testing of the codec on the TMS 320C54x DSK.
G.723.1 speech Codec
The aim was to implement ITU G.723.1 Multirate codec on Analog Devices
ADSP 2181 DSP processor.
B.Tech Mini-project (as per curriculum in BTech)
Phone Patching Unit for a VHF Transceiver: The project aim was to develop an interface unit for a VHF transceiver which can access a telephone line. The remote handset is equipped with a DTMF keypad and the interface has the ability to handle outgoing and incoming calls. The interface was done using an Intel 8051 Microcontroller.
B.Tech Project (as per curriculum in BTech)
A DSP based Multiprocessor system: Each card contains 6 DSP processors (ANALOG DEVICES ADSP21062). Several such boards are interfaced and a MS-WINDOWS 95 based interface is to be built. The interface was built using Microsoft Visual C++.
Operating systems Familiar With:
GNU/Linux( as a programmer), Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 workstation (as a user).
