My interests  are mostly centred around my chosen area of study,an exception being Linux and classical music.

Elaborating,I am a die-hard fan and user of GNU/Linux systems.I use it for all my day-today activities, like browsing the net, word procesing, sending email, doing simulations and so on.

I started using it from March 1996 ( courtesy PCQuest ) onwards, and is still using it and eagerly awaiting the release of GNU/Hurd.Hats off to Richard M Stallman of Free Software Foundation who made possible, a nearly impossible task before of running a high performance Un*x system in your home desktop systems.

Another thing which is very close to my heart is Amateur Radio.Incidentally many GNU developers are HAMS, as they are called. I heard about this wonderful hobby when I was in school ( in 1991 to be exact ), through a local newspaper. But I could not find anybody through which I could get first hand information. Later, when I went for my under graduation, I got aquainted with professor T.K.Mani ( VU2ITI ). He rekindled interests in me, and now I am all set to write the examination for getting the licence. Every year september 15th is Amateur Radio Day.

Like amateur radio, another important thing which is close to my heart is Music in general and carnatic classical music in particular. I had been undergoing training in music right from school days and was doing it until I left cochin. Infact I was a B Grade artist in All India Radio Trichur, Kerala. I was fortunate enough to undergo training under stallwarts like Prof. Mavelikkara Prabhakara Varma, Prof Malini Hariharan, Prof Kumara Kerala Varma, Sri Madhusoodhana Menon etc. I am hoping to convert my collection of cassettes into MP3 files (for my private use).

I had my first exposure to the Internet in 1998 after joining Indian Institute of Technology,Madras. After that I had been using it for gathering more info about topics of my interests.Since then I have become an addict. But I am happy since I use it for usefull purposes.
